Cowes Sailability club. “Putting smiles on faces”

We have supported Cowes Sailability  club for several years. Founded in 2002 by Patrick de Peyer to help make sailing and boating accessible to Island residents, boating trips during Cowes Week is a fixture in the clubs events calendar, taking the disabled and their families or careers for exhilarating trips on “Wet Wheels” Geoff Holts 9 meter motor catamaran. Commodore Paul Wilks spoke to Cowes Rotary club about the aims and ambitions of the club, also meeting the demands of increasing safety and caring regulations with the attendant training of the volunteer staff. John’s Club

John’s Club

John’s Club was formed by John Phillips for people with disabilities, learning difficulties, mental health, and those that struggle to socialise and mix. On Friday evenings up to 120 people meet at the Riverside Centre to socialise and meet their friends. John has recently started a small sports based day centre, and is. in need of basic equipment, exercise mats, gym balls and steppers. This year Disability learning  week in June is sports based and this equipment will enable the centre be promoted to the best of their ability. Cowes Rotary club where able to purchase the equipment and present it to John to support this new project.
