Guardians of Cowes Rotary Club’s Treasure Island at the Isle of Wight County Show
Cowes Rotary President Jamie Busby was very pleased to present a cheque to Mrs Caroline Sice Head Teacher of Lanesend Primary School. The cheque is to aid their fund raising for a Sensory Garden at the school. Lanes End School is a great asset to the Island. The Rotary Sail over event held at the Royal Yacht Squadron raised funds for the Ellen MacArthur Trust, where the Rotary Club handed over a cheque for £800.
The Interact Club, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Cowes, held a bag pack at ASDA in Newport on Saturday 7th September. The public were very generous and the Interactors collected a total of £164.00, which they have rounded up to £200.00. This will be presented to President Jordan’s nominated local Charity, ‘Women on Wight‘ later this week. The Interactors would like to thank Clare, Community Champion at ASDA and all the staff, for their very warm welcome and the public, who were so generous with their donations.
The Interact Club, in conjunction with The Rotary Club of Cowes, Blue Watch of the IW Fire and Rescue Service and Layla’s Trust, held a very successful Car Wash in Newport on Saturday 20th July. £350.00 was raised, which was rounded up to £400.00. Both the Firefighters’ Charity and Layla’s Trust received £200.00. Interact Club President, Nico Ostler handed over cheques to both Charities. Blue Watch Leader, Firefighter Andy Hookey and Sarah Leahy from Layla’s Trust received the cheques. The Interactors would like to thank all members of the public, who were extremely generous in their donations.
Members of Cowes Rotary were again happy to support the Walk the Wight 2019 with Mountbatten raise £275,000, and received this letter for thanks from Chief Executive, Nigel Hartley
Despite the fire in Medina Village earlier this year, destroying all our equipment, with the help of our junior Interact club we raised nearly £1000 for worthy causes and provided much enjoyment during the week.
Our annual Christmas Concert took place on 17 December 2015 at St Mary’s Church led by the Island Concert Band. Over £500 was raised.
